Zoe just came in after I'd put her to bed 20 minutes ago.
"Zoe, back in bed! It's time for sleep!"
"Mom, I have something," she told me with a clever, glowing gaze, like she was giving me a precious gem that would be the greatest gift of my life.
I figured it was one of her baby dolls or something. I could tell it was wrapped up.
"Is it your baby?"
Her smile widened and she daintily danced over in the half dark to where I was nursing Zane, who was almost ready for bed.
She tenderly handed me her precious cargo.
"Is a binkie an' a shoe in tissue and a washcloth!" she proclaimed rapturously.
And that's exactly what it was.
And with one last glow of pleasure, she floated, queen-like, back to bed.

Eli does that same thing. "Mommy, I have something for you!" It makes it harder to be stern when they are being so cute!
