House Shopping

So, Michael and I have been doing some serious house shopping for the last two weeks after months of poring over the MLS and doing mortgage calculations. Here is a little house we are seriously considering. Small, but lots of living space and in a nice, tidy, dead end road neighborhood about 5 minutes from church and 6.5 miles from Michael's work (he has a half hour commute right now.) What do you think?

The only really lame thing about this house is the lack of dishwasher. I refuse to continue a life condemned to hand washing, so that means we'd have to go the portable dishwasher route.

Looks so nice!! I LOVE the big trees all around, and the hard wood floors in the living room. But I wouldn't take it unless it comes with the groovy music included in the virtual tour. ;)

If you want to talk to someone about loans, or anything like that, Brandon would be happy to help you! Buying a house for the first time can seem really overwhelming! Let me know if you want any help!

It's darling...what fun! Good luck looking and finding a place of your own! I think the inside is darling and we all know what you could do to that big back yard!

Darling is the first word that comes to mind. The second is jealous. I am so jealous! A house like that around here would be $180,000+. I did a search in Provo (http://www.everysinglehome.com/) and the cheapest home on there was $129,000.

Groovy music not included, unfortunately... but I will try not to look too smug when I say there are some DEFINITE advantages to living in the midwest! And the fact that we are probably going to bid for this house at 95 grand is probably one of the best ones! Woohoo! Sure, you can't by whole wheat anywhere in the state. But you can afford a whole lotta house to fit your whole lotta deep-fried backside! hee hee hee

Oooh. I'm turning green...you can't find a townhome w/2 bdrm for anywhere near that here. That's a steal! I like the hw floors and it just looks homey and cute. I hope it works out for you. I don't want to steal someone else's thunder but I have a friend that is a mortgage broker, and he works in any state... email me if you want his name and #. I'm only offering because we are thinking about starting the process as well.

That house is adorable. I love the built in shelves in the basement. So CUTE! Indiana can't be beat when it comes to affordability!

I am in shock...a small older home such as that - with a yard even - in Seattle would be well over 550K. No joke. Can't even get a 2 bedroom condo for less than 250K. That's why we're going to be moving!

Aside from my awe...I am also in awe because it is sooo cute! I say go for it and bite the bullet and top off your cake by adding and installing a new dishwasher...I don't think you'll regret it!

Good luck!

yeah! Yeah! yeah!!!!! Go for it, buy it! Its so darn cute and looks great now but has a TON of potential too. You guys could do soo much to the house-in and out! Wow, on the back yard-how fun. And heck yes, install a dishwasher-that is a must, I so agree w/ you about that one. It is really cute and looks nice w/ lots of space. I love those bookshelves. Let us know how it goes. Buying a house is sooo worth it! You can do it! :]

Love, Chelsea
