Sad Day

We've had a sad day. We put an offer in on that cute little house we loved... It was a little more expensive than we had hoped for but we'd crunched the numbers and we could make it work as long as we never went out to dinner for the next 30 years. So we put in a bid.

But it was refused, because she decided she needed more money out of the house. So, we have til Monday, but it looks like no little house for us. Darn it.

What kind of interest rate were you looking at? I did a quick mortgage calculator on $105,000 for 30 years at 7%. It came out to $700 per month. Isn't that a lot cheaper than rent? Here in Provo, we live in a nasty 750 square foot dumpy place, and it's $610. I guess I didn't include property tax, insurance, & mortgage insurance. That could drive it up quite a bit.

What are property taxes like there? Here in Utah they're around 0.7%. In Texas they're around 3.5%. HUGE difference in payments!

Trite as it may sound, something better will work out. Good luck with the process. And keep posting your options, it's so fun to see what you find and like and I feel like I'm shopping vicariously through you or something.
